For
the past 36 years, a dog of one shape or another has been
a part of my life. From nutritional needs, to behavioural
interests... dogs have been my enduring passion and fascination.
Over
the years I've participated in and enjoyed most of the canine
pastimes...obedience and agility, as well as showing my Bearded
Collies (who have qualified for Crufts on more than one occasion)
At the moment I have 4 furkids...3
Bearded Collies, Willow,
Abby
and Disney,
the odd one out a Border Terrier called Mabel.
It always makes us smile when people look at our three hairy
dogs and say "you've got a handful there"...little
realising that the biggest handful, is in the smallest body,
as Mabel the Border Terrier bounces around full of character
and innocence!!
My husband is an experienced
agility handler and has even competed in a canine cross country
event, coming third in a very strong field of competitors.
So you can see, we are most definitely a 'barking mad' household!!
Because of my inolvement with
showing and the intense coat preparation that goes with it,
I have regularly been asked by people if I could help with
the grooming of their pets. It's something that gives me great
pleasure, so when the opportunity arose for me to train as
a professional groomer at the Oxford School of Grooming I
didn't hesistate.
With my 10 years experience
of show coat preparation, training at one of the best and
longest established grooming schools, plus work experience
in two different salons, together with 36 years of dog ownership,
I felt able to pull all of this knowledge together to launch,
Dogs by Design. |
